Meta Ads Audit Services: Find What to Fix
Find the problem holding back your Meta Ads.
We'll reply with a written proposal: the work, what we need from you and an estimated timeline.
Where Meta Ads accounts quietly waste money
Wasted ad spend is rarely caused by one wrong setting. It shows up where your business goal, the way the account is set up, the ads, the tracking and the real results you get stop lining up with each other.
Your ads are chasing the wrong result
The campaign goal, the place where the action happens or the result Meta is told to get more of is easy for Meta to deliver, but has little to do with the customer action that actually matters to you.
Tracking looks complete but counts things twice
Your website tracking and your server tracking report the same action differently, or use different labels and IDs, so results look bigger or smaller than they really are.
Cheap results turn out to be poor quality
The leads and sales Meta reports are never checked against your own records, so nobody knows which became real customers, made you a profit, asked for refunds or went further in the buying process.
Ad fatigue is just a guess
Ads are compared by their name or by an average cost per result (CPA, cost per acquisition) across everything, without a clear record of each ad's main idea, opening hook, proof, offer and format.
Automation ignores a real business limit
Meta's automatic audience widening, placement choices or ad changes run without written firm limits, people you want to leave out, or a named person who approves them.
The audit doesn't tell you what to do
You get screenshots and scores, but no sense of how serious each problem is, how sure anyone is, what it depends on, who should fix it, how to check the fix or what to do first.
What our Meta Ads audit services include
Softscotch takes a close, dated look at your live Meta Ads account (the ads you run on Facebook and Instagram) and turns it into an audit you can make decisions with. We connect your business goal with who has access, how your campaigns are set up, budgets, who you target, where your ads appear, the ads themselves, the pages or forms people land on, your tracking (the Meta Pixel on your website and the Conversions API, a direct link from your server to Meta), the real quality of the leads or sales that follow, the automated settings and any policy problems. You get a ranked list of findings, each with proof, how sure we are, who should act and how to check it's fixed. Running your ads day to day and making new ads are separate services.
Eight areas of review cover your whole account, ending with a walkthrough of the findings with your team. Finding a problem doesn't mean fixing it is part of the audit: we tell you clearly which fixes are included and which would be separate work.
Your goal and starting point
We agree the decision you need to make, the customer action that matters, your prices and margins, how results are credited to ads, how much history is available and what the data can't show.
Accounts and campaign setup
We list who owns what and who has access, plus your campaign goals, budgets, bids, schedules, what each campaign is for, who you target, where your ads appear and the history of changes.
Ads and landing pages
We map each ad's main idea, hook, proof, offer, format, versions and usage rights, and check it matches the page or form people land on, before deciding whether an ad is really worn out.
Tracking and lead quality
We trace what each tracked action means, the IDs that link them, consent, how duplicates are removed, how quickly data arrives, Meta's match checks and sample records from your website, server and CRM (customer records system).
Targeting, placements and automation
We record where your own customer data came from, who is left out on purpose, the firm limits you set, the suggestions you give Meta and where Meta's automation widens or picks audiences and placements for you.
Ad rules, privacy and account risk
We note current rejected ads, risky claims, limits for special ad categories, the terms that apply to your audience data, access risks and the legal decisions that stay with you.
Ranked plan of fixes and tests
We rank findings by how strong the proof is, how much is at stake for your business, the effort needed, how easy each change is to undo and what it depends on, then set the check, owner and follow-up for each.
Walkthrough of the findings with your team
We walk you and your team through the findings in plain English, answer questions and make sure each owner knows what to do first. You keep the full written audit to share with your staff or any agency you work with.
An audit built to help you decide, not to impress
Every finding links something we saw in your account on a set date to what it means for your business, how sure we are, who should act, how we'll check it's fixed and what you need to decide next.
Your real business comes first
The audit starts with the customer action and the money side your ads are supposed to support, not with the platform's settings.
Every piece of proof has a date and a confidence level
Something we saw live in your account is kept separate from what we're inferring, what data is missing and what Meta merely recommends.
Ads are judged by their core idea
Consistent labels on each ad keep a record of what was really tested, even when ads, placements and campaigns change over time.
Website, server and CRM records are matched up
Shared IDs and matching ad results to real sales show where actions are counted twice, lost, or where Meta is chasing low-quality results.
You stay in control of automation
Firm limits, suggestions, where Meta can widen things, who approves changes and how to undo them are all written down clearly.
Every finding ends in a decision
Each action, whether keep, fix, test, pause, hand over or watch, has an owner and the proof that will show it was done.
The full Meta Ads audit, step by step
The 36 points we check cover the basics, the information we gather, how your account is organized, how changes are made, safety checks, finding what's wrong, and keeping proof and records in order.
The tools we use, and why
The tools we name are examples of what we use today. Before we rely on any of them, we check your access, your plan, your country and how each feature currently works.
Our Meta Ads audit: seven checks before you approve anything
Each area of review ends with dated proof, a clear way to tell if a fix worked, a note of any exceptions and a named person who owns the next step.
Your business goal and where things stand today
We agree the decision you need to make, the customer action that matters, your prices and margins, how results are credited to ads, how much history is available and what the data can't show.
We agree the question the audit must answer and the period we'll look at before we judge any account setting or anything Meta recommends.
How your accounts and campaigns are set up
We list who owns what and who has access, plus your campaign goals, budgets, bids, schedules, what each campaign is for, who you target, where your ads appear and the history of changes.
We trace who controls each account and what each part of the setup is asking Meta to deliver before we call the structure efficient or wasteful.
Your ads and the pages they send people to
We map each ad's main idea, hook, proof, offer, format, versions and usage rights, and check it matches the page or form people land on, before deciding whether an ad is really worn out.
Our notes on your ads keep a record of what changed, where each ad ran and what the landing page or form asked the same people to do.
Pixel, Conversions API and lead quality check
We trace what each tracked action means, the IDs that link them, consent, how duplicates are removed, how quickly data arrives, Meta's match checks and sample records from your website, server and CRM (customer records system).
We only trust a tracked action when we can show what it means, where it came from, who it belongs to and how it connects to a real lead or sale.
Who you target, where ads appear and what Meta automates
We record where your own customer data came from, who is left out on purpose, the firm limits you set, the suggestions you give Meta and where Meta's automation widens or picks audiences and placements for you.
We review automation as it works in your account today, with clear limits on what it controls, who approves it and how to undo it.
Ad rules, privacy and account risk review
We note current rejected ads, risky claims, limits for special ad categories, the terms that apply to your audience data, access risks and the legal decisions that stay with you.
The audit points out dated policy and privacy risks, but it does not replace Meta's own review, Meta's current terms or advice from a lawyer.
Your ranked plan of fixes and tests
We rank findings by how strong the proof is, how much is at stake for your business, the effort needed, how easy each change is to undo and what it depends on, then set the check, owner and follow-up for each.
The readout keeps finding problems separate from making live changes, and gives every agreed action a safe way to check it and review it.
The approach changes with your type of business
We adjust the audit to your customers, your risks, your data, how often things change in your business and what counts as a good result, while the scope of the audit itself stays the same.
Local services
For local service businesses, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account your location, the area you serve, when you're available, calls, bookings and who answers new inquiries.
Online stores and direct-to-consumer brands
For online stores and direct-to-consumer brands, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account accurate product details, stock, promotion terms, the path to checkout, returns and profit margin.
Software companies (SaaS)
For software companies, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account what customers use the product for, proof that it works, free trial or demo steps, the tools it connects with and whether new users actually start using it.
Business-to-business (B2B) and professional services
For business-to-business and professional services, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account that several people often decide together, the need for expert proof, how leads are qualified, how they're passed to sales and the long wait before a deal closes.
Healthcare and wellness
For healthcare and wellness, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account accurate claims, patient privacy, who can use the service, appointment steps and what may and may not be said about medical care.
Finance, insurance and legal
For finance, insurance and legal businesses, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account the rules where you operate, approvals, required notices, sensitive personal data and terms that can change.
Education and training
For education and training, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account course details, dates, who can enroll, the enrollment steps, what students achieve and accessibility for all learners.
Publishers and media
For publishers and media companies, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account who wrote the content, rights to use it, subscriptions, fast publishing cycles and original reporting.
Marketplaces and directories
For marketplaces and directories, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account value for both buyers and sellers, checking who users are, what's listed, data quality and the same action being counted twice.
Travel and hospitality
For travel and hospitality, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account busy and quiet seasons, location, availability, booking value, cancellations and policy rules.
Industrial and manufacturing
For industrial and manufacturing businesses, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account product specifications, what works with what, distributors, long buying decisions and real, good-quality inquiries.
Memberships and communities
For memberships and communities, a Meta Ads audit has to take into account who has access to what, the ongoing value members get, moderation, renewals and member support.
Who does what, with nothing falling through the gaps
This audit covers finding the problems and writing down exactly how to fix them. Running your ads, making new ads, building landing pages, technical data work and legal advice each stay with a named person or team.

Everything we deliver can be traced back to the proof it came from, and forward to how it is fixed, checked, reported on and kept up to date.

Records who owns your ad account, Pages, Pixel, data connections, product catalog, website domain, billing and user roles.
Connects each campaign's objective, where the action happens, performance goal, budget, bid, audience and placements.
Labels each ad's main idea, hook, proof, offer, format, version, usage rights and landing page.
Links website, server, Meta, CRM and finance records, with rules for removing duplicates.
Keeps apart audience sources, permissions, people left out, firm limits, suggestions and where Meta widens your audience.
Records rejected ads, category rules, claims, account restrictions, the owner and the next review date.
Keeps the proof, how serious each issue is, how sure we are, its impact, the effort, what it depends on and the recommended action.
Sets out approved changes, what they're compared against, when to stop, how to confirm success, how to undo and the follow-up.
The connected growth engine
Explain how the account is set up now, how ads are delivered, who can approve spending and any limits on how it is run.
Own the ad ideas, claims, usage rights, versions and decisions about making new ads.
Own the landing pages and forms, how they work on phones and computers, their speed and when changes go live.
Own what each tracked action means, server tracking, IDs, consent and matching records across systems.
Own which leads are accepted, sales stages, profit margins, refunds and the real sales figures.
Own privacy, legal and Meta policy decisions, and approval of any live changes.
One connected scope. Meta Ads Audit Services is coordinated with the strategy, creative, experience, data and reporting it depends on, so responsibilities and handoffs stay visible in one written plan.
Your audit timeline, and the full growth plan.
A Meta Ads audit usually goes from getting access and saving a dated snapshot of your account to a readout you can act on in about two to three weeks, as long as you can give us the accounts and records we need. Fixes and live changes are ranked and approved as a separate step. The audit sits inside the six-month Softscotch growth plan shown below.

KPI Next round agreedHow our Meta Ads audit compares with a typical one
The difference isn't a longer checklist. It's proof that anyone can re-check, an understanding of your real business, and an action plan you can knowingly accept or reject, item by item.
- Starts with a generic checklist
- Treats Meta's account scores as the truth
- Looks only at whole-account averages
- Calls every rise in how often people see an ad "fatigue"
- Counts website and server tracking separately, so results double up
- Stops at the results Meta reports
- Switches on all of Meta's recommendations at once
- Ignores the history of changes in the account
- Sends screenshots without saying how sure they are
- Promises savings from the audit
- Starts with a business question you sign off
- Checks the proof behind each Meta recommendation
- Looks at each campaign goal and decision on its own
- Uses each ad's core idea and delivery data
- Tests tracking IDs and removes double counting
- Checks results against real, accepted leads and sales
- Writes down clear limits for automation
- Dates every important change in the account
- Gives each finding a risk level, owner and check
- Is honest about uncertainty and makes no guarantees

Ethical, transparent, always on
One accountable team, strictly white-hat (only methods search engines and platforms allow), no shortcuts and no surprises. Support whenever you need it.
One Softscotch plan gives you access to the full service stack, coordinated around your priorities.
You do not need a separate agency or retainer for every channel. Your plan can draw from search, paid media, web, ecommerce, outreach, automation, lead generation, messaging, content, creative and operations. The agreed scope sets what is active, in what order and at what capacity.
One price for everything, not a stack of separate retainers.
You get one price for your whole marketing, not a separate retainer for every service. SEO, paid ads, your website, automations, cold email and newsletters, we run all of it as a single scope, so you get the most result for what you pay. Agencies sell each of these on its own, so the invoice climbs whether or not that line drives a single lead.
A different agency or retainer for each service. The bill stacks up fast, and keeps climbing whether or not each one moves a single lead.
Plus the one-off build, and a fresh contract, kickoff and onboarding delay for every new service you add.
We run your whole marketing as one engagement, so you get the most result for what you pay, not a pile of disconnected invoices.
- SEO: technical, on-page, content, local and AI search
- Template-built pages (programmatic SEO), links from other websites (backlinks) and authority
- CRO and landing pages
- Paid ads across Google and Meta
- Automations, cold email and newsletters
- WordPress build, setup and ongoing care
- One team, one roadmap and one point of contact
- Reporting tied to qualified leads and revenue
Priced to your site after the audit. No sticker price, and no per-service creep.
Meta Ads audit services FAQs
These answers explain the limits set by Meta, the law, your data and the results anyone can promise, before any work begins.
What is included in Softscotch Meta Ads audit services?
The agreed scope can include your business goal and starting point, a review of your accounts and campaign setup, your ads and landing pages, your Pixel and Conversions API tracking and lead quality, targeting, placements and automation, ad rules, privacy and account risk, a ranked plan of fixes and tests, and a walkthrough of the findings with your team. The proposal names the access we need, the proof, the owners, what you get and how each fix will be checked.
When is a Meta Ads audit the right choice?
Choose it when you have taken over an account, or are running one now, and need an independent check and a step-by-step plan before making big decisions about budget, rebuilding the account or changing agency.
What account access do you need?
We usually need view-only access to your ad account, linked pages and accounts, Events Manager (where Meta shows your tracking), any product catalog or lead forms, and your past reports. Permission to make live changes is separate and must be given clearly.
What do you look at during the audit?
We look at dated settings, delivery reports and results broken down by group, the history of changes, ad versions, landing pages, tracking tests, Meta's warnings, policy status and samples of leads or sales matched to your own records.
What if my tracking is incomplete?
We mark any conclusions the data can't support, follow sample records through your website, server and CRM, and keep tracking repairs separate from claims the available data can't back up.
Do Meta's scores or recommendations decide the plan?
No. We treat them as dated clues. Before recommending anything, we check the setting behind them, the proof, whether you qualify, the trade-offs and whether it matters to your business.
How do you connect Meta results to real business quality?
We agree with you what counts as an accepted lead, a customer, revenue, margin, a refund or a later sales stage, then match records using stable IDs and agreed date ranges, and account for duplicates and missing records.
How do you judge the ads themselves?
We label each ad's main idea, hook, proof, offer, format, version and landing page, then read delivery and response data in that context. The audit doesn't claim an ad is "worn out" based on one averaged number.
Do you switch on every automated setting?
No. We write down what Meta may choose or widen for you, which controls stay firm, what proof is needed and who can approve, pause or undo each change.
Can you guarantee Meta will approve my ads?
No. We can review Meta's current rules, your proof and your account history, and fix the issues we can, but Meta makes its own review and enforcement decisions and its policies can change.
Who makes decisions about privacy and permission to use customer data?
You do. You keep the decisions about your lawful reasons for using data, permissions, what you tell customers, how long data is kept and any legal questions. Softscotch writes down how the data flows and only sets up the connection to Meta that you approve.
Can you run proper, controlled tests?
Yes, once we agree the question, what is being tested, the main result, how many people are needed, the risk of tests affecting each other, how long it runs, when to stop and what decision it will inform. Some lift tests (tests that measure the extra sales ads cause) need Meta to approve your account and enough spend or volume to work.
Do the results Meta credits to my ads prove the ads caused them?
No. Attribution gives ads credit using a set of rules. Proving the ads caused extra sales needs a fair comparison test that you qualify for and that is big enough, and even then there is some uncertainty, overlap between tests and outside factors to allow for.
Do you change my live account during the review?
Not unless agreed. We save a dated snapshot and note any edits others make while we work. Approved fixes are a separate, careful step with clear permission, checks and a way to undo them.
What work is not included in this audit?
Running your ads day to day, making new ads, building landing pages, setting up server tracking, fixing your CRM and legal advice are separate pieces of work, even when the audit spells out how they should connect.
Can you guarantee results from a Meta Ads audit?
No. Softscotch is responsible for the agreed review, any agreed fixes, the checks and the readout. Ad auctions, competitors, demand, your offers, your landing pages, data quality and how your own team works all affect results too.
How long does the first round of work take?
Once we have view-only access, past reports, typical ads, landing page access and your definitions of a good lead or sale, the dated snapshot is usually ready in 3 to 5 business days and a full audit you can act on in 2 to 3 weeks. Several accounts or countries, missing history, tracking problems, matching CRM records, ongoing account changes, policy issues and slow approvals can all add time.
How much does a Meta Ads audit cost?
The price depends on the real number of accounts, countries, campaigns, ads, data sources, connected systems, tests, reports and handover work involved. Your ad spend, paid data tools, new ads, landing page work, server tracking, CRM fixes and ongoing ad management are separate unless listed in your proposal.
