SMS Campaign Management Services

Send approved SMS campaigns to the right people.

We'll reply with a written proposal: the work, what we need from you and an estimated timeline.

The hidden problems

Why SMS campaigns fail before anything is sent

Weak consent records, a sender registration that doesn't match the real messages, poor opt-out handling, unclear offers and replies nobody answers can make a text campaign risky or useless for your business, before the provider even tries to deliver it.

  • Your list has consent labels, not consent proof

A "subscribed" tag can't show who got permission, for which sender and purpose, what the person was told when they signed up, or whether they later took that permission back.

  • Only "STOP" is treated as an opt-out

Replies of STOP are handled, but plain-English replies like "please stop texting me", requests on your website, support tickets and preference changes in other systems can be missed, so those people keep getting texts by mistake.

  • Your registration and real messages don't match

The use case, sample messages, sign-up process, sender name, links you registered with the phone networks and the messages you actually send no longer describe the same program.

  • Local time is guessed

Messages are scheduled using the phone number's area code or the account's default time zone, without up-to-date proof of where each person is now, and without clear decisions on state-specific rules or the type of message being sent.

  • Delivered is reported as "read"

Delivery reports and tracked clicks are treated as real people paying attention, without separating failed messages, clicks by bots, replies, good-quality leads and the business results that follow.

  • How often people get texts is managed only by a calendar

Campaigns, automated message sequences (flows), support alerts and other channels pile up on the same people, because no rule tracks how many messages each person gets, where they are in their customer journey or when they should stop getting messages.

Exactly what's included

What our SMS campaign management service includes

Turn an approved offer and a list of people who agreed to get your texts into a carefully run SMS (text message) campaign. Softscotch writes the campaign brief, checks your consent records and that your sender number is registered and ready, writes and tests the messages and the page they link to, coordinates the send and reports separately on what the phone networks did with each message, replies, opt-outs (people asking to stop) and any real customer actions we can measure.

Eight areas of work cover getting your SMS program ready, rules for who can receive messages, campaign planning, writing the messages, handling replies and opt-outs, checks before sending, a report focused on business results and a handover with a plan for your next campaign.

Program and consent check

We list every message purpose, sender, registration, consent source, sign-up wording, audience, opt-out list, provider, landing page, reply route and how results are defined.

Rules for who can receive messages

For realistic sample groups of contacts, we set rules for consent at the time of sending, where each person is in their customer journey, location and local laws, how recently they engaged, who to leave out, phone numbers that now belong to someone else and which system holds the correct record.

Campaign brief and calendar

Before anything is written, we link the campaign's job, audience, claims, offer, the role of each message, local sending times, landing page, how often people are texted and when to stop.

Message, offer and landing page

We write short message versions that say clearly who they are from, with claims you can back up, a clear action, the required wording, a sensible backup if personal details are missing and a live landing page that matches the message.

Opt-outs and replies

Across your own systems, we handle standard opt-outs and any other reasonable way people ask to stop, HELP requests, people opting back in, invalid numbers, numbers that now belong to someone else, support and sales questions, and complaints.

Pre-send checks, sending and delivery checks

We check that the registration matches, test phones that should and shouldn't get the message, local time, links, offer terms, how opt-outs work, where replies go and delivery reports sent back by the provider.

Report on real actions and value

We separate messages tried, accepted by the provider, sent, delivered, failed, clicked, replied to, turned into good-quality leads and turned into business results, while showing where these overlap and where we're unsure.

Handover and next campaign plan

After the send, we hand over the final messages, audience rules, approvals and results, with a short list of what to keep, change or test in your next campaign. That way, each send builds on what the last one taught you.

Why Softscotch

Know who can receive your texts, what is approved and what really happened

Each send links the approved purpose, proof about the audience, the sender, the message, the page it links to, the test result and the owner. That way your business can launch, hold or improve a campaign for a clear reason.

We check who can receive each message at the time of sending

A dated sample of contacts proves which fact, consent purpose, opt-out and location rule allowed or blocked each sample person from getting the message.

Your registration matches the real message

Before sending, we make sure the registered use case, sample messages, links, sender, sign-up process and HELP and STOP replies all match what you are really sending.

People can opt out in more than one way

STOP keywords, plain-English replies, website requests and support requests all end up in one opt-out list that someone owns, with proof that it can be rebuilt and recovered if something goes wrong.

The message stays true after the click

We check the sender, claim, offer, required wording and landing page as one journey, including what happens when something is missing, expired or no longer available.

Provider reports are shown with their limits

Delivery reports from the provider help with day-to-day running, while replies, good-quality leads, how sales are credited and the extra value SMS really added each keep their own separate definitions.

Your SMS program keeps running smoothly

Owners, schedules, approval status, records of problems, notes on each send, monitoring and the signs that it's time to stop a campaign all stay in place after we hand over.

Service decisions

The 36 decisions behind a well-run SMS campaign

The work covers where consent came from, the current state of each contact, whether your sender is ready, whether the offer and message are true, timing, opt-outs, replies, proof of delivery and your next business decision.

Getting ready usually takes 2 to 4 business days. A first campaign is usually aimed for 5 to 10 business days after we have full access, approved inputs, a registered and ready sender and passed tests. Reviews by your SMS provider or the phone networks can make this take longer.

How we compare

How our SMS campaign management compares: a careful campaign, not a mass text blast

The difference is a named audience that is allowed to receive your texts, an approved message and landing page, tested opt-outs and replies, a send with clear limits and honest reporting that keeps delivery, responses and business value apart.

The risk of using a different agency for everything
  • Starts with a subscriber list exported from a tool
  • Treats consent as a simple yes or no
  • Checks for STOP replies only
  • Copies the registration from an old campaign
  • Schedules everything in the account's one time zone
  • Approves message text without looking at the landing page
  • Counts "delivered" as "read"
  • Reports sales the platform credits to SMS as extra sales SMS caused
  • Handles replies as they come, with no plan
  • Leaves upkeep with no owner
vs
Softscotch
  • Starts with an approved purpose and sender
  • Keeps proof of where consent came from, what people were told and when
  • Handles keywords and every reasonable way to opt out
  • Matches your registration to the messages you really send
  • Uses proof of each person's local time, and its limits
  • Tests the sender, offer, link and landing page together
  • Keeps provider delivery reports apart from real human responses
  • Shows the limits of sales crediting, overlap and comparisons
  • Sends replies to the right person using named step-by-step guides
  • Hands over a dated step-by-step guide for running the program

Ethical, transparent, always on

One accountable team, strictly white-hat (only methods search engines and platforms allow), no shortcuts and no surprises. Support whenever you need it.

One plan, full-stack access

One Softscotch plan gives you access to the full service stack, coordinated around your priorities.

You do not need a separate agency or retainer for every channel. Your plan can draw from search, paid media, web, ecommerce, outreach, automation, lead generation, messaging, content, creative and operations. The agreed scope sets what is active, in what order and at what capacity.

Pricing approach

One price for everything, not a stack of separate retainers.

You get one price for your whole marketing, not a separate retainer for every service. SEO, paid ads, your website, automations, cold email and newsletters, we run all of it as a single scope, so you get the most result for what you pay. Agencies sell each of these on its own, so the invoice climbs whether or not that line drives a single lead.

Bought separately, service by service

A different agency or retainer for each service. The bill stacks up fast, and keeps climbing whether or not each one moves a single lead.

All of it, one scope

We run your whole marketing as one engagement, so you get the most result for what you pay, not a pile of disconnected invoices.

SMS campaign management FAQs: questions to ask before you send

These answers explain permission to text your audience, what is included, sender readiness, timing, costs, approvals, who handles replies, measurement and what results we can and can't promise.

Filter
What is included in SMS campaign management?

The agreed scope of work can include checking your SMS program and consent records, rules for who can receive messages, the campaign brief and calendar, writing the message, offer and landing page, designing how opt-outs and replies are handled, checks before, during and after sending, a report on real customer actions and value, and a handover with a plan for your next campaign. Your proposal names the inputs, owners, what you get, how we'll check it works and what is not included.

When is SMS campaign management the right service?

It is a good fit when you already send regular text campaigns, or are about to start, and you need one clear plan with a named owner for consent proof, sender registration, audience rules, timing, handling replies, understanding delivery reports or the quality of results.

What access and inputs do you need?

We need view-only access to your SMS account and registrations, consent and opt-out records, customer stages in your CRM, approved offers and claims, landing pages, reply queues, how your analytics define results and the people who can approve privacy and legal decisions.

What evidence do you look at first-hand?

We look at current FCC rules (the US Federal Communications Commission), CTIA guidelines (the US wireless industry's messaging principles), your provider's policies and how its product behaves, registration records, proof of consent, data on each audience group, the actual messages, realistic test phones, replies, delivery reports, landing pages and the business results you accept as real.

How do you work out the starting point?

We list every message purpose, sender, consent source, audience, opt-out list, registration, message type, local time rule, reply path, provider status and how results are defined. Then we re-create a sample of decisions about who should and shouldn't receive messages.

How do you separate activity from real business value?

We keep messages tried, accepted by the provider, delivered, clicked, replied to, turned into good-quality leads and turned into business results separate. Before we recommend sending more, we show how sales were credited, overlap with other channels, profit margin and what we're unsure of.

Can you run controlled tests?

Yes, when your audience size, consent, how smoothly things are running and your tracking allow it. Before launch, the plan names the audience group, what we are changing, the most messages anyone can receive, how we control for other channels, when we stop and the limits of the test.

Do sales credited by the platform prove SMS caused extra sales?

No. Platforms and analytics tools give SMS credit for sales using their own rules. Proving that SMS caused extra sales needs a fair comparison group, enough data, control over overlap with other channels and a clear statement of what we're unsure of.

Do automated recommendations decide the plan?

No. Platform suggestions and automatic checks are dated inputs. Before anything is approved, a named person who is responsible checks the evidence, limits, rights and whether it matters to your business.

Do you change live accounts while we are still investigating?

Not until the scope of work is agreed and we have permission to make changes. While investigating, we can use view-only access and test records. Changes to live messages, opt-out lists, registrations and schedules need named approval and steps to undo them.

Can you guarantee platform approval, availability or delivery?

No. SMS providers and phone networks control access, message formats, reviews, delivery, filtering and enforcement, and they can change how things work without notice. We check what is supported at the time we do the work.

Who owns legal, privacy, consent and rights decisions?

You keep all decisions on legal matters, privacy, consent, rights, claims and required disclosures. Softscotch documents how these decisions connect to the campaign work and only carries out instructions you have approved.

What does the reporting keep separate?

The report keeps apart who was allowed to receive messages, what was sent, what the provider delivered, how people responded, opt-outs, good-quality leads, sales credited to SMS, overlap with other channels, profit margin and evidence from fair comparison groups.

What will the evidence not prove?

The evidence can't prove that every consent is legally good enough, that a phone network will deliver a message, that a delivered message was read, or that a sale credited to SMS was really caused by SMS.

What work is not part of this service?

Growing your SMS list and sign-up forms, full landing page work, how your CRM is built, wider analytics, running customer support and legal opinions stay with their specialist owners unless they are agreed separately.

Can you guarantee results from SMS campaign management?

No. Softscotch is responsible for the agreed research, setup, checks and results report. SMS providers and phone networks, your data, customer demand, how your business runs and market conditions also affect results.

How long does the first round of work take?

The step-by-step timeline on this page is an example. Real timing depends on access, how good the evidence is, how many messages need writing, provider and network reviews, approvals and how long we need to watch results before making a decision you accept.

How is SMS campaign management priced?

Pricing follows the amount of work we confirm: platforms, records, message versions, writing, quality checks, reporting and handover. Before work begins, your proposal states our assumptions and what is and isn't included.
