AI Max for Search Services

AI Max for Search should reach more of the right searches, not hide what customers actually see.

We'll reply with a written proposal: the work, what we need from you and an estimated timeline.

The hidden problems with wider reach

AI Max can report more conversions while the searches, ad messages, landing pages or real business results get worse.

Before giving automation more reach, we look at each campaign's job, the linked feature settings, the website Google learns from, your bidding goals, the pages and messages Google picks, and the quality of the leads and sales that follow.

  • One switch hides several decisions about where your ads show

Campaign and ad group settings, text customization (Google writing extra ad text), Final URL expansion (Google choosing other pages on your site), page rules, brands, locations and pinned ad text all have linked defaults and are controlled at different levels.

  • The search converts, but the lead is wrong

Broad match (showing ads for loosely related searches) or ads that run without any keyword can look cheap, while your CRM (customer records system) or store shows poor-fit customers, duplicate leads, refunds, the wrong location or low profit.

  • Google-written text drops a message you must show

Text customization can write or refresh ad text from your website, while a price condition, disclaimer, product limit or ad text you pinned to a set position in your responsive search ads (RSAs: ads Google assembles from your headlines and descriptions) is no longer kept.

  • The page Google picks breaks your tracking

Pages Google picks automatically can clash with fixed or badly built tracking templates, redirects, consent settings and tracking events, even when the landing page itself exists.

  • Automation learns from the easiest action

Page views, duplicate form fills or poor-quality leads become the main bidding goals, while the business result that comes later stays as a side measure or isn't connected at all.

  • Reported growth is just traffic moving around

AI Max can take searches from your brand campaigns, standard Search, DSA (Dynamic Search Ads) or Performance Max, and get credit for volume that didn't bring any truly new, good-quality customers.

What you can hire us to do

Seven areas of work take AI Max from checking you qualify and your goals to a controlled launch in Google Search.

Softscotch helps you decide whether, and how, to switch on AI Max (Google's AI feature that widens which searches your ads show for and writes extra ad text) inside your chosen Google Search campaigns. You get a check of whether you qualify and how your tracking stands today, an agreed map of settings, checks on the landing pages and ad messages Google picks, a limited test or launch, and a record of the decision that keeps Google's own credit for results separate from real business value.

Your proposal lists the accounts, campaigns, ad groups, markets, budgets, conversion goals, features, web pages, controls and how deep the testing goes. Each area of work ends in something you can make a decision on, and names the access or approval it depends on.

Checking you qualify, each campaign's job and older features

We confirm AI Max is being treated as a layer on top of your Search campaigns, not a new campaign. We list your Search and DSA campaigns, older automatically created ad text, broad match and overlap with Performance Max, map what each campaign is for and what it costs, and choose between fixing problems first, a test, a step-by-step switch-on, moving older features over or no change.

Conversion tracking, value and privacy readiness

We map your main, secondary and campaign-specific goals, fixed lead or order ID numbers, values, refunds, delays, consent and which customer data you are allowed to use, and spell out what your enhanced conversions (sending Google securely scrambled customer details to match sales to ads) and offline lead results depend on today.

Search terms, brands, locations and blocked keywords

We set how each campaign and ad group should match searches, define what broad match and keywordless ads should and shouldn't cover, and manage brand lists, account and campaign negative keywords (words that stop your ads showing) and locations of interest against the areas the campaign targets.

Controlling the ad text Google writes

We review the ad text you wrote and the website pages Google learns from, keep dated versions of banned words and message rules, review Google-written text by language and context, and remove and save a record of any unsafe text.

Landing page choice, pinned text and tracking checks

We map which pages may and may not be chosen, page include and exclude rules, and clashes between messages you must show and pinned ad text. We test the {lpurl} code (the placeholder in your tracking template that stands for the landing page), redirects, link tags, consent and conversion events across sample pages Google might pick.

A proper AI Max test and controlled launch

We write down which features are on in the comparison group and the test group, how traffic and budget are split, the main results and the safety limits, who may approve applying the result automatically, how long conversions take and anything that could spoil the test. The result can be "it helped", "it hurt", "it points one way" or "unclear".

#1

Reporting on the customer path, lead quality and growth

We review why the ad matched, the search, the headline, the Google-written text and the page chosen; match real results and corrections from your CRM or store, shared with consent; manage bidding, tracking outages and re-checks; and grow only within your value, profit and capacity limits.

Decision record and team handover

We hand over a written record of the settings chosen, the reasons, what the test showed and what to watch next, and show your team how to review search terms, Google-written text and chosen landing pages themselves.

Why Softscotch

Every decision to widen reach keeps track of which search triggered the ad, the message Google wrote, the page it chose, what bidding learned from and your cost limits.

The work links Google's settings to what customers actually see, results from your own customer data shared with consent, controlled tests, how long sales take, real business value, handling of problems and growth decisions that can be undone.

We check the feature setup and older settings first

AI Max, DSA, older automatically created ad text, broad match, brand and page settings get a current list for every campaign and ad group before any bulk change.

Every feature keeps its links and a way to undo

Linked defaults, text and page requirements, pinned text clashes, the level each setting lives at and its live status stay visible instead of hiding behind the campaign switch.

Wider reach is checked as a full customer path

Why the ad matched, the search term, headline, Google-written text, chosen page, location, brand and the result on the landing page are looked at together where reports allow.

Smart Bidding learns from approved business results

Before chasing more conversions, we manage what Google's automatic bidding (Smart Bidding) learns from: main actions, fixed ID numbers, consent, upload methods, corrections, delays, value, profit and how many customers you can handle.

Tests are honest about uncertainty

Comparison and test settings, how long conversions take, data quality, campaign changes and safety limits are written down, and "unclear" is an accepted result.

Feature changes and problems can always be fixed

Records of setting changes, Google-written text, page rules, Data Manager uploads, data exclusions, re-checks, saved records, access and ways to undo all carry on after handover.

Basic to advanced

What goes into careful, well-managed AI Max for Search.

These 36 parts cover whether you qualify, data, campaign setup, making the changes, controls, testing, costs and upkeep over time. Joining data in a data warehouse (a central store for business data) and tests that prove cause and effect are only added when your ID numbers, volume and business data can support them.

Strategy, readiness and starting point
Whether you qualify for AI Max, and older features to moveConfirm your Search campaigns, Smart Bidding, website and tracking are ready, and record where DSA, older automatic ad text and broad match settings stand as Google moves them into AI Max, with the dates.
Each campaign's job and where they overlapMap brand, general, competitor, local and dynamic searches across standard Search, DSA, Performance Max and AI Max before giving AI Max credit for new reach.
The test question and who can approve launchState what the AI Max test must prove, which settings the comparison and test groups use, safety limits, whether results may be applied automatically and who decides.
How long conversions takeWrite down the delay before conversions and uploads come in, budget, volume, the bid strategy's learning state and the earliest fair point to judge results.
When not to switch on, and what to fix firstHold off on switching on when your goals, pages, tracking, required messages, permission to use data or campaign setup can't yet support a useful test.
Success, growth and undo decisionsDefine what "it helped", "it hurt", "it points one way" and "unclear" mean, and the cost and risk limits for applying, limiting, revising or stopping.
Data, customer IDs and correct sources
Enhanced conversions and offline lead resultsSend Google consented customer details from your own records and good-quality results that happen later, using fixed sale or lead ID numbers.
Fixed lead or order IDs and correctionsRemove duplicates and keep changes such as qualifying, refunds, restated values, withdrawn sales and timing tied to one official ID number.
Consent and which customer data you can useWrite down how data is collected, why, what customers are told, consent, limits on sensitive categories, who may upload, which fields, who has access, how long it's kept and when it's deleted.
ID numbers for searches, ad text, pages and resultsKeep campaign, ad group, source, ad text, landing page, lead or order and change ID numbers through every report and correction.
Campaign and bidding setup
Ranking of conversion valuesSeparate the main goals bidding aims for, side measures you only watch, values and lead-quality adjustments before automation starts learning.
Search matching and ad group mapSet which campaigns can use search term matching and clear on or off decisions for each ad group, with the broad match and keywordless topics you intend to reach.
Which campaign owns which searchesGive each type of search and brand to the right campaign across Search and Performance Max, and show volume that moved, was taken from another campaign, is new or is uncertain.
Map of feature defaults and linksMap the campaign-level switch, each feature's setting, linked settings, the level they are controlled at, what they need first and their effect on where ads show.
Ad text and source pages
What text customization learns fromApprove the domain, pages, your own ad text, keywords, products, offers, claims and disclaimers that Google may use to write ads.
Text guidelines and messages you must showKeep dated versions of banned words, message rules, cases for each language and decisions on disclaimers or pinned messages, without treating Google's beta (still being tested) controls as approval.
Checking and removing Google-written textFind text Google created, review it for accuracy and policy, remove unsafe text and keep its history, performance and the reason the source caused the problem.
Getting your own ads and pages readyStrengthen clear, consistent responsive search ads and suitable landing pages before expecting automation to fix thin or conflicting material.
Controls, landing pages and launch safety
AI Max control chartReview search term matching, text customization, Final URL expansion, page controls, brands and locations of interest, each at the right level.
Tracking checks for pages Google picksTest {lpurl} tracking patterns, link tags, redirects and page exclusions before letting Google choose landing pages more widely.
Brand, location and blocked keyword mapKeep brand lists, the reach of negative keywords, campaign target areas and ad group locations of interest separate, and test real-life examples.
Final URL expansion, allowed pages and pinned textApprove the map of pages and rules, monitor which pages get chosen, and handle clashes with pinned ad text, offers that must match and pages that are blocked.
Testing, customer path and re-checks
Grouping search terms by relevanceReview why the ad matched, what the search meant, the headline shown and the landing page, alongside lead or order quality.
A proper AI Max experimentRun Google's built-in test inside the campaign, with exact feature settings, traffic and budget split, time for conversions, safety limits and who may apply the result.
Checking search, headline and chosen page togetherLook at the actual combination customers saw, where Google shows it, and where Google-written text came from, instead of only campaign averages.
Re-checking landing pages and moved featuresRe-test key search, brand, location, message, page, tracking and goal examples after website changes, feature changes or older features being moved over.
Measuring results, costs and growth
Bidding on the value of extra salesUse conversion value, profit, new or returning customer status and capacity signals where they are reliable enough to guide bids.
Goals, credit and delay reportShow main actions, what bidding includes, how credit is given, conversion and upload delays and incomplete time periods before reading performance.
Matching platform results to real resultsCompare Google's conversions and value with contacts, qualified leads, sales, refunds, profit and records that couldn't be matched to a source.
Proof of campaign shifts versus truly new resultsSeparate credit for keywordless or broad match traffic from brand and campaign movement, and from controlled proof of truly new value.
Costs you accept as you growLink targets and budgets to the real value of good-quality results, the cost of each extra customer, capacity, uncertainty and the next limited change.
Rules, problems and continuity
Plan for conversion data problems and exclusionsSpot tracking outages, find which click dates and delays are affected, use Google's data exclusions (telling Smart Bidding to ignore bad data) rarely and only when justified, and manage recovery and reporting.
Record of setting changes and undoKeep ID numbers, before and intended settings, links between settings, changes that only partly worked, a fresh check of what's live, approvals and safe restore steps.
Managing the move from older featuresTrack Google's dates for moving automatically created ad text and DSA into AI Max separately, and keep the settings from before the change, re-check cases and any remaining differences.
Library of Google-written text and decisionsKeep ad text, guidelines, removals, settings, tests, reports, approvals and replaced versions where you can always access them.
Data warehouse alerts and access rulesWhere it makes sense, join customer path and real value data, send unusual results to a person, and manage logins, how long data is kept, deletion and a clean exit for any supplier or agency.
Google Ads, measurement and checking tools

Google Ads shows settings and results. It doesn't know your real business facts or what would have happened without AI Max.

The Google Ads dashboard, Google Ads Editor, the Google Ads API (a secure link between software systems), Data Manager, tag checking tools, website checks and your own customer systems each answer different questions. Naming a tool or platform doesn't mean we are a Google partner for it, certified for it or able to guarantee results.

Look inside your Search campaigns

Seven checks connect the decision to switch on, what Google learns from, what customers actually see and the decision to grow.

Each check records current settings, proof, who is in charge, how we will confirm it worked and how to undo it. Google's recommendations, its studies of average gains and its own credit for results never replace testing in your own account and real lead quality.

Check 01 · Decide whether to switch on

Each campaign's job, readiness, older settings and moving them over

We work out where AI Max fits among your Search campaigns and whether the account can support a useful test.

AI Max is a layer added to Search campaigns, not a new campaign type and not a fix for weak Search basics.

Campaign job roleGive brand, general, competitor, local and dynamic searches to the right campaigns.
Current settings recordRecord the campaign AI Max switch, ad group matching, text, page, brand, location and older settings.
Campaign overlap overlapMap the risk of traffic and budget moving between standard Search, DSA and Performance Max.
Readiness readyCheck Smart Bidding, budget, how long conversions take, source pages, ad text and tracking.
Older features moveRecord Google's timelines for moving automatic ad text and DSA, the settings before, and the re-checks needed.
Decision decideChoose to fix problems first, run a proper test, switch on in stages, move older features, wait or make no change.
Check 02 · Agree goals, data and value

Bidding actions, customer data you can use, ID numbers, delays and costs

We make the exact signals and values Smart Bidding learns from visible before wider reach changes how many there are.

More counted conversions do harm when they are duplicates, shallow actions, poor-quality leads or values that are too high.

Goal order goalsMap account default, campaign-specific, custom, main and secondary actions.
ID numbers IDsAssign fixed lead or order ID numbers and clear rules for duplicates and status changes.
Customer data privacyConfirm where your own customer data comes from, consent, what customers are told, the approved method and limits on sensitive categories.
Offline results offlineCheck your current enhanced conversions and Data Manager connection, its warning reports and upload delay.
Corrections adjustDefine how qualifying, refunds, restated values and withdrawn sales are handled and matched up.
Costs and value valueApprove values, profit, customer type, capacity, targets and budget limits.
Check 03 · Set up matching and controls

How features depend on each other, ad groups, brands, locations and blocked keywords

We turn the campaign-level switch into feature-by-feature decisions, each made at the right level.

A switched-on campaign setting doesn't tell you which ad groups, brands, locations, pages or Google-written text can actually show.

Links between features linksMap what the campaign switch, text, page and ad group settings need, and what turns on or off with them.
Ad group matching matchingDefine the broad match and keywordless topics you want, and clear exceptions where matching is switched off.
Brand controls brandsDecide brands to include and exclude, name variations, sister companies, legal rules and which campaign owns them.
Locations locationTest who is reached by where they are, campaign include and exclude areas, and ad group locations of interest.
Blocked keywords negativeUse proof, keep the reach narrow and check the effect on other campaigns before adding to campaign and account block lists.
Live check verifyRead back the live settings from the dashboard or API, catch unexpected changes and keep the approved way to undo.
Check 04 · Control the ad text Google writes

Website facts, your own ads, guidelines, removal and saved records

We check what Google can learn from, and how the headlines and descriptions it writes are reviewed after they start showing.

Being based on your website doesn't make an out-of-date price, a claim without proof or a weak landing page safe.

Source pages sourceApprove products, offers, claims, disclaimers, wording and suitable landing page content.
Your own ads adsCheck how well your responsive search ads cover the topic, how messages combine and whether important text depends on pinning.
Text guidelines guideKeep dated versions of banned words, message rules, examples and review cases for each language.
Google-written text textFind text Google created and check the search, message, page, policy and performance around it.
Removal removeStop unsafe text, check it no longer shows and fix the source page or guideline that caused it.
Saved records archiveKeep the text, its source, history, spend, results, reviewer and reason for removal.
Check 05 · Prove landing pages and tracking work

Final URL expansion, page rules, pinned text, tracking and landing page events

We test the pages AI Max may choose and the whole path from click to conversion, not just the landing page you set.

Google says pinned ad text isn't kept when Final URL expansion picks a different page, and badly built tracking templates can turn working pages into "page not found" (404) errors.

Allowed pages pagesSort pages that are public, current, relevant, within ad rules, available and trackable.
Page rules rulesKeep campaign page exclusions, ad group page inclusions, product feeds and service-specific page logic separate.
Pinned messages pinningResolve clashes between required headlines or disclaimers and Final URL expansion or page inclusions.
Tracking templates trackingTest supported {lpurl} patterns, final URL suffixes (tags added to the end of links), custom link tags and redirects.
Consent and events eventsCheck that sample devices and consent choices each record one intended tracking path.
Watching for changes monitorCatch 404 errors, redirects, out-of-date offers, unavailable products, broken forms and wrong pages being chosen.
Check 06 · Test the feature set

Comparison and test settings, conversion delays, safety limits and applying results

We use Google's built-in AI Max experiment, or a step-by-step rollout when there is good reason, to answer one agreed launch question.

Google's test can bundle search term matching and ad text features together, so the result can't separate the effect of every single feature.

Question questionDecide whether the account is testing for more good-quality volume, more value, lower cost or another approved result.
Feature settings settingsRecord the exact comparison and test settings, ad group exceptions and how Google-written text behaves.
Traffic split splitRecord how traffic and budget are split, how fast it ramps up, dates, what qualifies and whether results apply automatically.
Data ready delayAllow for conversion and offline upload delays, and mark time periods that are still incomplete.
Safety limits limitsWatch brand, location, relevance, landing pages, ad policy, lead quality, profit and capacity.
Decision decideLabel the result "it helped", "it hurt", "it points one way" or "unclear" before applying, limiting or stopping.
Check 07 · Read the customer path and grow carefully

Why the ad matched, the search, headline, chosen page, real results and the value of extra sales

We connect Google's customer path reports with real business proof from later in the sale, and keep Google's credit for results separate from truly extra results.

Traffic without keywords, an AI Max label or a lower cost per action in Google's reports doesn't prove, on its own, that you gained new, profitable customers.

Customer path pathReview why the ad matched, the search, headline, Google-written text and chosen landing page where Google shows them.
Relevance groups groupSort by search purpose, brand, location, page and offer fit, with report coverage shown.

What changes

From an unclear starting point to a controlled launch and a decision based on proof.

Before

Your account may qualify for AI Max, but conversion quality, how features depend on each other, which pages can be chosen and launch limits have not been agreed together.

  • Readiness isn't checkedCampaign type, bidding, conversion goals, data delays, budget, ad policy status and which features are available have not been checked against each other.
  • Controls are incompleteSearch term matching, brands, locations, blocked keywords, text guidelines, page inclusions, page exclusions and the effect on pinned text have no single approved map.
  • The customer path isn't testedGoogle-written messages, chosen pages, tracking templates, consent, forms and real lead quality are only checked on the original landing page.
Changes

An agreed plan for the settings becomes a limited test or launch, with checked messages, landing pages, tracking and a way to undo.

  • Every feature setting is a choiceSearch term matching, text customization, Final URL expansion, brands, locations, page exclusions, page inclusions and ways to undo are all saved as dated versions.
  • Pages Google picks pass checksSample searches, Google-written messages, chosen landing pages, offers, tracking templates, forms and conversion events are all reviewed.
  • The test has a rule for decidingThe traffic split, time for conversions to come in, safety limits, real business value and uncertainty decide whether to apply, limit, revise or stop.
After

Google's results and your business results, matched up, support a clear decision to apply, limit, revise, pause or stop the feature set.

  • Proof stays separateGoogle's conversions, qualified leads, orders, refunds, profit, capacity and outside changes each keep their own definitions and delays.
  • Risks have a planWebsite, offer, feature, ad policy or data changes trigger checks, and tracking outages and corrections each have a named owner.
  • The next step is clearTargets and budgets only move within your approved value, profit and capacity limits; otherwise the controlled setup stays as it is.
Your type of business and what's at stake

AI Max for Search changes with the risk of the wrong searches, how accurate your pages are, how long sales take and the cost of a bad match.

A local branch, a product catalog, a software demo, a regulated offer, a course, a property and an industrial part each need different controls for brand, location, ad message, landing page, results and moving away from older features.

Local

Local and multi-location

Where people are, their locations of interest, branch pages, opening hours, service areas, call routing and how many customers you can handle must all agree before wider matching picks a location.

FocusLocation test examples, which branch pages can be chosen, call quality and blocking the wrong locations
MeasureSpend on the wrong branch, good-quality calls or bookings, ads leaking into the wrong areas and how fast errors are fixed
Online sales

Ecommerce and retail

Large product catalogs create risks around stock, product versions, prices, promotions, returns and profit when ad text and landing pages are chosen automatically.

FocusProduct and category pages allowed to be chosen, alerts for offers and stock, conversion corrections and profit-based value
MeasureShare of wrong or out-of-stock pages, refunds, profit-based value and how fast ads are pulled
Software

Searches about features, plans, integrations and competitors can stretch beyond what your product really does, while demos and free trials only turn into active users later.

FocusCorrect feature and plan details, brand controls, demo or trial quality and feeding back users who become active later
MeasureGood-quality demos, trials that become active users, leads for the wrong plan, pipeline (deals in progress) value and conversion delay
B2B

Business-to-business (B2B) and professional services

Low volume, long sales cycles and groups of buyers make bidding on simple form fills and drawing early conclusions from tests especially risky.

Regulated

Finance, insurance and legal

Rates, who qualifies, local laws, professional claims and required disclosures can all be broken by Google-written text or a different landing page.

FocusDecisions on messages that must show, page and local law controls, authorized review and saved records
MeasureDisclosure and local law errors, good-quality applications or inquiries and time taken to pull ads
Education

Education and training

Pages about courses, how they are taught, fees, deadlines, accreditation and locations change with the seasons and need up-to-date conversion and enrollment value.

MeasureOut-of-date course errors, good-quality applications, enrollment value and how fast errors are fixed
Media

Publishers and media

Subscription, event, content and sponsor pages serve mixed purposes and change fast, which can lead to low-value reach or reach that breaks ad rules.

How it fits together

Nine connected layers keep wider reach, Google-written ad text, chosen landing pages and real business value easy to trace.

A change to a goal, a brand list, a location, a source page, an offer, a tracking template, a Data Manager upload or a Google feature change can change what automation learns. Keeping steady records and a way to undo makes the effect visible.

If access, budget, approved offers, usable ads and a working landing page are all ready, we aim to launch the first campaign in the first week. This ongoing work sits inside the six-month Softscotch growth plan shown below.

KPI System running

Our full growth plan (all services together), month by month

Month 1

Foundation and review

We review your whole website, where you rank and your competitors, agree how the site should be organized, and set up hosting, analytics (visitor tracking) and your GoHighLevel lead system. The first agreed pages start going live.

KPI pages live
Month 2

Build and launch

The site is built or rebuilt. Main, service and industry pages go live with on-page SEO, website labels and technical fixes. Your Google Business Profile is improved and lead follow-up automations are switched on.

KPI pages in Google
Month 3

Early rankings, paid ads start

More pages built from templates (programmatic pages) start going live, paid ads and email follow-ups are switched on for early leads, and Google adds your pages to its results as the first rankings usually appear.

KPI search terms ranking
Month 4

Momentum builds

Rankings often start climbing, visits from free search begin to rise, ad spending is tuned to the return it brings (ROAS, return on ad spend), and groups of related articles and links from other sites build your reputation with Google.

KPI visits from search
Month 5

Results start to show

Main search terms can move closer to page one, the first leads from free search often arrive, AI tools may begin to mention you, and testing improvements to your pages (CRO, conversion rate optimization) helps more visitors get in touch.

KPI leads from search
Month 6

Growth builds on itself

Pages that are working are protected and improved, template pages bring in visitors searching for very specific terms, and SEO, ads, email and automation work together to bring steadier leads and sales. Timing varies by market and competition, and no ranking is guaranteed.

KPI leads and sales
How we compare

AI Max management is not flipping a switch, adding blocked keywords once a week or promising better results.

The difference is a clear, written link between each campaign's job, which features are on, where searches and ad text come from, the page Google picks, how each conversion is identified, real business value, test proof and a next decision that can be undone.

The risk of using a different agency for everything
  • Describes AI Max as a new campaign type or a one-click campaign build
  • Switches on the feature set without recording defaults, links between features and ad group exceptions
  • Assumes keywordless and broad match traffic is automatically extra business
  • Uses a broad blocked-keyword list without checking the effect on your brand and other campaigns
  • Trusts Google-written text just because it was based on your website
  • Turns on Final URL expansion while still expecting pinned ad text to show
  • Tests the original landing page but not the pages Google picks, redirects, consent and events
  • Feeds page views, duplicates or poor-quality leads into bidding to get more volume
  • Reads campaign cost per action before conversion and offline upload delays have passed
  • Treats Google's average gains and its credit for results as a guarantee of profit or extra business
vs
Softscotch
  • Keeps AI Max as a layer inside a clearly defined Google Search program
  • Saves dated versions of the feature switch, linked settings, control levels and ways to undo
  • Keeps why the ad matched, campaign shifts and proof of truly extra results separate
  • Sets brand, location, page and blocked keyword controls at the right level
  • Checks website facts, text guidelines, Google-written text and removals
  • Sorts out clashes between required messages and pinned ad text before Final URL expansion or page inclusions
  • Tests sample pages Google may pick all the way through tracking, consent and conversion
  • Uses approved main goals, fixed ID numbers, real lead feedback, corrections and value
  • Waits for conversions to come in and shows changes to targets, budgets and data
  • Keeps Google's response, real value, campaign movement and truly extra results within what each can honestly show

Ethical, transparent, always on

One accountable team, strictly white-hat (only methods search engines and platforms allow), no shortcuts and no surprises. Support whenever you need it.

One plan, full-stack access

One Softscotch plan gives you access to the full service stack, coordinated around your priorities.

You do not need a separate agency or retainer for every channel. Your plan can draw from search, paid media, web, ecommerce, outreach, automation, lead generation, messaging, content, creative and operations. The agreed scope sets what is active, in what order and at what capacity.

Pricing approach

One price for everything, not a stack of separate retainers.

You get one price for your whole marketing, not a separate retainer for every service. SEO, paid ads, your website, automations, cold email and newsletters, we run all of it as a single scope, so you get the most result for what you pay. Agencies sell each of these on its own, so the invoice climbs whether or not that line drives a single lead.

Bought separately, service by service

A different agency or retainer for each service. The bill stacks up fast, and keeps climbing whether or not each one moves a single lead.

All of it, one scope

We run your whole marketing as one engagement, so you get the most result for what you pay, not a pile of disconnected invoices.

Questions, answered

AI Max for Search FAQs: no blind switch-ons, weak bidding goals or promised growth.

These answers cover what AI Max is, who it suits, how features depend on each other, search matching, brands, locations, Google-written text, pinned messages, landing pages, tracking, your own customer data, tests, measurement, timing and pricing.

Filter
What is AI Max for Search?

AI Max is a layer you switch on inside Google Ads Search campaigns, not a separate campaign type. It combines search term matching (showing your ads for more related searches, even without a matching keyword) with ad text features, including text customization (Google writing extra ad text) and Final URL expansion (Google sending people to the most relevant page on your site), plus brand, location, page and reporting controls. We review, set up, test and run the features you choose.

Do you create a new AI Max campaign?

Not automatically. AI Max is switched on inside an existing or newly created Search campaign. We first decide each campaign's job and whether to test an established campaign, build or rebuild your Search basics, move older features over to AI Max or leave things as they are.

Who is AI Max for Search best suited to?

It suits advertisers with an established Search program, reliable conversion data for Smart Bidding (Google's automatic bidding) to learn from, accurate pages that are allowed to be shown, enough budget, enough time for conversions to come in, and people in charge of search, brand, location, page, ad text and result decisions. Broken tracking, or strict message rules that can't be met, should be fixed first.

Should every Search account switch on AI Max?

No. We may recommend fixing problems first, a proper test, switching on in stages, moving older features over, limiting some features or making no change. Weak goals, thin or misleading data, pages that serve mixed purposes, poor tracking, unclear brand or location rules and too little test volume can all make switching on straight away a bad idea.

Can individual AI Max features be controlled?

Yes, but each one is controlled at a different level and some depend on others. Search term matching works at both campaign and ad group level, while text customization and Final URL expansion are campaign settings. Page rules, brands and locations each have their own levels. Final URL expansion only works when text customization is on, so turning off text customization also stops Final URL expansion. We keep a chart of how features depend on each other.

How do you control the wider range of search terms?

We define acceptable broad match and keywordless topics for each ad group, use brand, location and negative keyword controls at the right level, and review search terms by why they matched, what the search meant, the headline, the chosen page and later lead quality where reports allow. Search term reports don't show every search, so they are not a complete list of what people typed.

How do brand and location controls work?

Brand inclusions and exclusions use Google's brand lists and can cover name variations and sister companies. Locations of interest are ad group controls that sit on top of the campaign's target areas; they don't replace the settings for where people are and which areas to exclude. We test sample searches for your own brand, competitors, people in your area and people interested in your area.

Do you allow Google to write headlines and descriptions?

Only after your own ads and the website facts Google learns from have been reviewed. Where text customization is chosen, we keep dated versions of banned words and message rules, check Google-written text and its context, remove unsafe text and fix the source page or control that caused the problem. Google's text guidelines are still in beta (being tested) and don't replace approval by a person.

What happens to pinned ad text and required disclaimers?

Google says pinned headlines and descriptions in responsive search ads aren't used when Final URL expansion or page inclusions pick a different page. Before switching on, we find the messages, conditions and disclaimers you must always show, and we switch off or restructure any automation that can't reliably show them.

How do you control which landing pages AI Max picks?

We build a map of allowed pages and rules, use campaign page exclusions and ad group page inclusions where they help, and monitor which pages get chosen. Whether a page is public, fits the product or service, has the right offer, is available, uses the right language and location, has working forms and tracking, and has recently changed are all part of the check.

How do you stop pages Google picks from breaking tracking?

We check which tracking template takes priority and that it uses supported {lpurl} patterns (the placeholder that stands for the landing page), plus final URL suffixes, custom link tags and redirects. Then we test sample pages on different devices and consent choices. Each path must load correctly and record one intended conversion before Final URL expansion is switched on.

Do you set up enhanced conversions and offline lead results?

We spell out and check what AI Max bidding depends on, and can set up selected work that is included in your proposal. Google now directs offline lead uploads to its Data Manager tools rather than the older Google Ads API upload method. Deeper tag, consent, CRM, call and server-side tracking work may be covered by our Conversion Tracking service, with who owns what agreed first.

How do you handle privacy and customer data?

You must have the right to use your own customer data and give customers the required notice and consent choices. We use as few data fields as possible, use Google's current approved methods, limit access and how long data is kept, and block sensitive or unsupported data. Hashing (scrambling data so it can be matched but not read) doesn't replace consent, policy or legal review.

Can AI Max be tested before a full rollout?

Yes, when the campaign qualifies. Google's built-in AI Max experiment splits traffic and budget inside the existing campaign between AI Max off and AI Max on. We record the exact features bundled together, the results, safety limits, time for conversions and whether results apply automatically, and we accept that the result may be unclear.

How do you measure AI Max for Search?

We keep settings, how relevant the customer path is, Google's response, real business value and truly extra results separate. Reports can combine why the ad matched, the search, headline, Google-written text and chosen page with consented results from your CRM or store, values, refunds and delays, while respecting privacy, how credit is given and coverage limits.

Can you guarantee lower CPA, higher ROAS or extra conversions?

No. Ad auctions, demand, competitors, how your campaigns interact, Google's own systems, websites, sales processes and customer behavior are outside any agency's control. We are responsible for the agreed setup, checks, tests, feedback and reporting, and we say what the proof supports, without treating Google's average results as a forecast for you.

How long does the first AI Max cycle take?

The page shows a sample twelve-week plan. Real timing depends on whether your account and test qualify, older features being moved over, conversion and upload delays, budget, website and tracking fixes, how ready Data Manager and your CRM are, markets and how fast approvals come back. It is not a promised date for results.

How are AI Max for Search services priced?

Pricing follows what our review finds: campaigns and ad groups, markets, older features to move, how complex the features and controls are, website and landing page review, managing Google-written text, tracking and Data Manager work, tests, reporting, joining business value data, problem cover and upkeep. What you get, our assumptions, who does what, timing and our fee are stated before any work starts.
