Conversion Tracking Services: GA4 & GTM

Conversion Tracking and Attribution Services

We'll reply with a written proposal: the work, what we need from you and an estimated timeline.

The hidden tracking problems

A tracking tag can work perfectly and still count the wrong thing.

Before anyone trusts a number or lets an ad platform bid on it, we follow the whole path: the real business action, the IDs that link records, consent, browser and server copies, what reaches each platform, the result in your CRM, how corrections happen and the reporting rules.

  • Nobody defined what a conversion really is

Clicks, page views and form interactions are called conversions without an agreed action, a rule for which records count, what they're measured against, a value, a status, an owner or a reason the number should guide a decision.

  • Tracking fires, but the numbers don't match up

A tag shows up in Google's test tools (Preview or DebugView), but the original sale, the event in the platform, the ad platform record, the CRM stage, the currency, the value or the time is missing or different.

  • Browser and server copies count the same sale twice

The same action arrives through pixels (tracking code on your site), API connections, plugins and imports, with no single event or order ID, no rule for retries or order of arrival, and no test that each platform removes the duplicate.

  • Consent and private data slip past hidden boundaries

Tags, web addresses, page titles, forms, user IDs and server routes send data out before the approved rules on purpose, region, consent, destination, how long data is kept and who can see it are applied.

  • Offline results and corrections arrive too late

Qualified leads, closed sales, refunds, cancellations, chargebacks and changed values never reach the ad systems that optimize your campaigns, or they quietly overwrite the original record.

  • Credit for results is presented as proof of impact

GA4, ad platforms, CRMs and dashboards use different ways of identifying people, different models, different time windows and different estimates, yet their totals are compared or added up as if they prove what caused the sale.

Scope

What our conversion tracking services cover.

Know which customer and sales results your tracking can really show, where your systems disagree and which numbers are safe to rely on. A conversion is an action that matters to your business, like a purchase, booking or qualified lead. Softscotch (we) sets the rules for each action, its value, how customers are matched, consent and where the data comes from, then sets up and tests tracking on your website, app, servers, ad platforms and CRM (customer records system) as agreed. Choosing a consent tool, legal advice, rebuilding your wider CRM or data warehouse, managing your ads and unrelated development stay separate unless listed in your proposal.

The first eight cards describe the tracking work, ending with a handover so your team can keep it working. Your proposal picks the analytics accounts, tag containers (where tracking tags are managed), websites, apps, platforms, actions, connections, test and live setups, and ongoing upkeep. The last two cards are related strategy and reporting services.

Results, scope, inventory and ownership basics

Define the business actions, which records count, values, main and secondary uses, who isn't a fit, analytics accounts, tag containers, platforms, ad accounts, suppliers, access, owners, costs and where related services begin and end.

Tracking rules, data layer and ID map

Keep a version-tracked rulebook for event names, what triggers them, the details sent with them, data types, units, record and event IDs, times, consent status, source, destination, retries, corrections, how long data is kept and how we'll check it works. The data layer is the behind-the-scenes information your site passes to tracking tools.

Website, app, lead and online store setup

Set up the approved GA4, GTM or app (SDK) events across websites, single-page apps (SPAs), embedded frames, payment pages on other domains, apps, forms, bookings, chats, calls, products, orders, subscriptions and refunds.

Ad platform signals from the browser and server

Set up the agreed Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or other conversion actions, enhanced matching (securely sharing scrambled customer details to improve matching), API connections, click IDs, pairing browser and server copies, consent and each platform's diagnostic checks.

CRM, offline results and corrections

Carry campaign details and approved customer IDs into lead, call, booking, opportunity, sale and customer records, then send qualified results, values, cancellations and corrected values back to the ad platforms where they support it.

Testing before go-live, matching records and monitoring

Test normal, unusual, consent-refused, duplicate, retry, cancellation and failure journeys from start to finish, then watch for missing, late, shifted, rejected and non-consented data, with a named owner for undoing changes.

Credit for results, tests and decision rules

Write down the attribution model (the rule for giving credit), how people are identified, which report is used, the look-back window, delays, time zone and known differences, then keep credited results, platform estimates, holdout test proof and readiness for marketing mix modeling (MMM) separate.

Handover and training for your team

We walk your team through the tracking setup, show how to check that key actions still record correctly and explain what to do before changing a page, form or campaign. That way, new work doesn't quietly break the numbers you rely on.

Why Softscotch

We test the whole path, from what a customer does to the decision you make.

What each conversion means, its ID, consent, how it's collected, how it reaches each platform, removing double counts, corrections, credit for results and how the data is used all stay connected, so a "working" tag can't hide broken tracking.

The business record comes first

A lead, booking, order, subscription or other action gets one main ID and clear rules for what counts, its value and its later changes, before any analytics or ad platform event is set up.

One rulebook for every platform

Browser, server, app, CRM and ad platform setups share the same agreed meaning, while keeping each platform's own fields, limits, consent rules, timing and way of removing duplicates.

Consent and data use are tested

We check what really happens in live journeys when people accept, refuse, change their choice, are in different regions, visit sensitive pages or are routed through your server, instead of assuming it from a cookie banner or a settings screen.

Sign-off needs more than a firing tag

Before we call the work done, we match up the original action, the data sent, whether the platform accepted it, whether it shows in reports, the result in your CRM and how corrections behave.

Changes are controlled and can be undone

Separate workspaces and test setups, version history, reviewers, release notes, automated test journeys, alerts for unusual numbers, problem severity levels and a way to undo keep the system working after we hand it over.

Credit for results keeps its limits

Actions we saw, credit-sharing models, platform estimates, controlled tests of true impact (lift) and marketing mix estimates stay separate, so the proof matches the decision you're making.

Basic to advanced

Everything behind conversion tracking you can rely on.

These 36 parts run from defining business results and planning what to track, through sending data to platforms, consent, testing, monitoring, credit for results, measuring true extra impact (incrementality), data warehouses and automation that people stay in charge of.

Business results, records and ownership
Business decisions and when tracking isn't the answerName the decision, audience, action, which records count, what results are measured against, value, delay and the cases where more tracking won't solve the business problem.
Ranking conversions and how each is usedSeparate check-only, small-step, qualified and final results, and decide which are used for bidding, which are only watched and which are for reports only.
One main record model for your businessDefine IDs for each person, account, visit, lead, call, booking, order, subscription, opportunity and customer, without making unsafe guesses that link people together.
What you have todayList analytics accounts, data streams, tag containers, tags, pixels, app kits (SDKs), conversions, API connections, plugins, ad accounts, suppliers, domains, test and live setups, owners and costs.
Which system is right, and expected differencesPick the system that has the final say for each action, what counts, its value and corrections, and define the differences you should expect between collection tools and reports.
Who does what and who owns which assetName owners for business definitions, legal decisions, setup, platform access, going live, monitoring, corrections, upkeep and handover when you leave.
Tracking plan and data layer
Tracking rulebook and data layerKeep version-tracked rules for what each event means, what triggers it, the details sent, data types, units, IDs, times, consent, source, destinations, retries, corrections and sign-off checks.
Standard versus custom eventsUse each platform's recommended events when they fit, and save custom names for truly different business actions, after checking the reporting limits that apply.
Rules for IDs, times and order of eventsDefine anonymous, logged-in and business IDs, when the event happened, when it was received, visit context, order of events, repeat visits and expiry.
Rules for details, values and too many unique valuesControl currency, number types, product scope, empty values, fixed lists, web addresses, free text, custom fields and fields with too many unique values (which GA4 may group as "other") before collecting them.
Website, app and conversion journeys
Websites, single-page apps and multiple domainsTest page loads and in-page navigation, redirects, embedded frames and forms, payment pages, referral handling, your own domains and visits from your own staff.
Lead, booking, chat and call resultsTell apart starting, passing checks, success, connecting, qualifying and selling, so a click or a thank-you page view doesn't stand in for the real, accepted result.
Accurate online store and subscription dataMatch up product and item IDs, quantity, currency, value before and after deductions, tax, shipping, coupons, orders, renewals, cancellations, chargebacks and refunds.
App tracking and credit on mobileMap Firebase or other app kit (SDK) events, app install and approved user IDs, Apple's tracking permission (ATT) status, deep links (links that open a page inside the app) and privacy-safe install reports (postbacks), with each platform's limits made clear.
Platform and server signals
GA4 and Google tag setupSet up analytics accounts, data streams, tags, key events (what GA4 now calls conversions), recommended events, exclusions, links to other Google tools and any custom fields needed, within current data collection limits.
Google Ads and enhanced conversionsDefine conversion actions, how they're counted, time window, value, whether they're used for bidding, click and customer-provided data, consent, diagnostic checks and a careful switch-over for bidding.
Meta, TikTok and other ad platform eventsMap standard and custom events, approved customer details for matching, where the action happened, when it happened, pairing browser and server copies, diagnostic checks and each platform's own restrictions.
Sending events through your own serverRun collection points on your own domain, the server setup that receives and reshapes data, the tags that send it on, passwords and keys, permissions, logs, hosting, capacity, cost, consent and handling of failures.
Consent, privacy and rules
Passing consent choices alongTest default settings and updates across pages, regions, browser and server containers and every supported or custom platform, without calling the signal legal consent.
Record of why data is collected and where it goesRecord why each field is collected, where it goes, supplier terms, consent or other approved basis, how long it's kept, who can access it, how it's deleted and what it must never be used for.
Keeping personal and sensitive data outBefore go-live, check web addresses, page titles, search strings in links, forms, events, custom fields, call data, app data and regulated pages for personal details (PII: personally identifiable information).
Access, versions and release rulesUse the minimum access needed, accounts you own, test and live setups, workspaces, version history, reviewers, release notes, protected keys, a way to undo and clean removal of access when work ends.
Testing, go-live and monitoring
Full journey test listCover success, form errors, double submits, page refresh, retries, refused consent, moving between domains, cancellations, refunds, offline updates and records a platform rejects.
Removing browser and server duplicatesMatch a stable event or order ID across browser, server, analytics, ad platform and business systems, then sort out duplicates, retries, delays and differences.
Spotting unusual numbers and broken setupsAlert on missing, duplicated, late, shifted, too-many-unique-value, non-consented and rejected events before anyone optimizes campaigns against them.
Problem, undo and continuity planRate tracking problems by severity, protect bidding decisions, find which dates were affected, undo changes, fill gaps or correct data where possible and tell the owners.
Credit for results, outcomes and costs
Sending CRM and offline results backSend back qualified leads, accepted opportunities, closed deals, values and customer status, with click, call or approved customer IDs, timing and upload error checks.
Handling late and corrected resultsKeep the original and current status for rejected leads, cancellations, refunds, chargebacks, removed conversions and changed values, without quietly rewriting history.
Keeping credit and true impact apartKeep platform credit, analytics models, CRM source rules and multi-touch views (credit shared across several touchpoints) separate from test-and-control proof of true extra impact.
One agreed definition for each numberSet the level of detail, formula, currency, time zone, ID, look-back window, what's included and excluded, whether it's estimated, owner and version for every number used in decisions.
Tracking cost and the value it addsCompare setup, cloud, supplier, upkeep and review costs with the decisions that got better, the risk that was reduced and the extra evidence your team actually used.
Advanced measurement and automation
Raw event storage and its historyKeep the history of each event, version, ID, consent, source, destination, result and correction in a data warehouse, while documenting why GA4's raw export and its reports can differ.
Designing tests of true impactDefine what is being measured, how groups are assigned, the test and control groups, spill-over between groups, the result window, whether the test is big enough, uncertainty and whether it's practical, before calling a test proof of cause.
Getting ready for marketing mix modelingPrepare combined data on results, spend, reach, price, promotions, seasons, distribution and other factors, and check models against suitable experiments when possible. Marketing mix modeling (MMM) estimates each channel's effect from these totals.
Automated test journeys after changesRun scheduled normal and unusual journeys against the tracking rules and each platform's checks after changes to your site, checkout, consent tool (CMP), app, tags or connections.
Tracking automation with people in chargeLet AI helpers find problems and suggest changes only within approved data, tools, permissions, tests, limits on actions, human sign-off points, a record of every action, a way to undo and an off switch.
Research and implementation tools

The tools follow your customer journey, how data is used and the decisions you make.

GA4 (Google Analytics 4), GTM (Google Tag Manager), Firebase (Google's app analytics), ad platform connections (APIs), call tracking tools, CRMs, data warehouses and monitoring services are only chosen when they fit the agreed plan. Naming a tool never means we partner with it, that no data will ever be lost or that your setup is legally compliant.

Look inside your tracking

Seven checks show where a conversion loses its meaning.

Each check ties the proof, settings, test journeys, records in each platform, differences between systems, owners and go-live decisions to one sign-off record.

Check 01 · Results and ownership

Business results, scope and which system is right

We define which action matters, which record counts and which system owns its value, before setting up tracking on any platform.

This check can turn down a proposed conversion if it only loosely stands in for the real result, can't be matched up between systems or shouldn't be sent to the intended platform.

{}
Business decision scopeName the business decision the tracking will support and what a wrong or late signal would cost you.
What counts as a result defineDefine success, exclusions, what it's measured against, value, currency, delay and its stage over time.
The system with the final say matchName which system decides whether it happened, whether it qualifies, its value and any later correction.
How the signal is used controlSeparate actions used for bidding, actions only watched, checks and report-only actions.
Who does what ownerName business, legal, developer, platform, testing, monitoring and upkeep owners.
Poor fit and limits riskRecord when tracking can't answer the question and which related service owns the next step.
Check 02 · Events and IDs

Tracking rules, data layer and record check

We test whether every field collected has a stable meaning, ID, type, source, consent and behavior on each platform.

A tracking plan isn't approved just because the names look tidy. Sample actions must stay identifiable and match up across systems, even through retries and joins between systems.

What each event means rulesCompare each name and trigger with the platform's recommended events and the real business action.
Record and event IDs matchSort out IDs for people, visits, leads, calls, bookings, orders and a unique ID for each event or order.
Details and data types formatCheck fixed lists, number values, currency, quantities, product scope, empty values and required context.
Time and order timeSeparate when an event happened, was received, was processed and when the result came, and test order, repeat visits and expiry.
Consent and destination privacyAttach the approved consent status, purpose, fields, routes and banned uses to the tracking rules.
Retries and corrections recoveryDefine how repeats are made safe, duplicates handled, late arrivals treated, and how refunds, removals and value changes behave.
Check 03 · Online journeys

Website, app, lead and online store journeys

We walk through the real customer paths and tell apart actions that only hint at a result from real business results.

Testing covers the live journey and its unusual cases, not just visiting a thank-you page directly in a test browser.

Pages and domains webTest page loads, in-page navigation, redirects, payment pages, referrals and moving between your domains.
Embedded tools embedCheck forms, booking tools, chats, embedded frames, consent and the messages or server callbacks they send back.
Lead and call success leadSeparate starting, submitting, passing checks, connecting, qualifying, opportunity and sale.
Accurate store data storeMatch up item IDs, quantities, currency, tax, shipping, coupons, order value and the risk of counting a purchase twice.
Later changes changesTest cancellations, refunds, returns, chargebacks, renewals and changed values.
Apps and deep links appMap app kit events, app IDs, Apple tracking permission status, deep links and the limits of privacy-safe credit.
Check 04 · Platforms and server

Analytics, ad platform and server signal check

We check what each platform receives, accepts, de-duplicates, estimates and makes available for optimizing campaigns.

A successful server response or a green check mark is one checkpoint. It doesn't prove a qualified conversion, correct credit or lawful use of data.

GA4 and GTM analyticsReview the analytics account, data streams, tags, triggers, variables, recommended events, custom fields and limits.
Google Ads googleReview conversion actions, counting, value, time windows, bidding status, enhanced data, uploads and diagnostic checks.
Meta and TikTok paidReview event mapping, event IDs, matching fields, browser and server coverage, timing and diagnostic checks.
Server route serverCheck the collection point, the server setup, how data is reshaped, where it goes, consent, keys, logs and error handling.
Removing duplicates de-dupeReplay browser and server copies, retries and events that arrive out of order, using stable IDs that suit each platform.
Delivery and rejection checkMatch up accepted, rejected, delayed, unmatched and estimated records for each platform.
Check 05 · Consent and data use

Consent, privacy and sensitive data check

We list the fields, platforms and behaviors that change with purpose, the visitor's choice, region and the page they're on.

Softscotch sets up the approved rules and provides test proof. Your legal and privacy owners decide the legal basis, disclosures, how long data is kept and which suppliers are suitable.

List of where data goes inventoryList every tag, app kit, server route, API, supplier and field sent from each website, app or system.
Consent order consentCheck that consent defaults and changes apply before navigation, across browser, app and server platforms.
Personal and sensitive fields privacyCheck web addresses, page titles, search strings, forms, events, IDs, call data and regulated pages.
Use of customer IDs matchReview anonymous, logged-in, scrambled (hashed) and platform matching IDs against the approved purpose and terms.
Storage and access rulesRecord storage, deletion, users, roles, keys, logs, exports and how access is removed when work ends.
Refused and unknown choices testCheck that every tag and route behaves as approved when consent is refused, not yet given, withdrawn or not supported.
Check 06 · Go-live and reliability

Testing, matching records, monitoring and problem handling

We prove sample records match across systems, and set up checks that catch tracking drifting off course after go-live.

The handover explains normal differences, processing delays and missing evidence, so not every gap becomes an emergency and real failures aren't ignored.

Test setups and versions go liveReview development, staging (test) and live containers, app builds, plugins and publishing history.
Journey test list testRun normal, unusual, refused-consent, duplicate, retry, cancellation, refund and offline-update cases.
Sample of matched records proveMatch the original action, data sent, server log, platform and business records, with times.
Monitoring monitorSet alert levels for missing, duplicate, late, shifted, too-many-unique-value, non-consented and rejected events.
Handling problems recoveryDefine severity, which decisions are affected, protecting bidding, undoing changes, corrections and who to tell.
Handover and response times ownerHand over accounts, versions, tracking rules, test cases, dashboards, alerts, owners and how often things are reviewed.
Check 07 · Credit and proof

Credit for results, platform estimates and true impact

We make clear how people are identified, which model and time window are used, which report it comes from and what cause-and-effect question is being asked, before comparing the value of channels.

Attribution shares out credit for actions that were seen. Modeled totals estimate actions that weren't seen. Measuring true extra impact (incrementality) needs a fair comparison group. Each answers a different question.

Which report sourceIdentify whether it's a GA4 report, an exploration, the API, BigQuery (Google's data warehouse), an ad platform, the CRM or a warehouse, and its level of detail.
Identity and time window modelWrite down whether people are tracked by user, device, account or click, plus the look-back window, time zone, delay and rules for direct visits.
Estimated data estimateLabel where platforms estimate behavior or conversions, and explain why raw exports and on-screen reports can differ.
Testing true impact causeDefine test and control groups, spill-over, the result, whether the test is big enough, uncertainty and who can take part, where practical.
Readiness for marketing mix modeling totalsAssess results, ad spend, other factors, seasons, pricing, distribution and experiments to check the model against.
Decision rule decideState what the evidence can change, and when the result is only a rough direction or can't settle the question.
What changes

From scattered tags to a well-run system for tracking results.

Before

You have tags, plugins and platform totals, but nobody can piece together the real business action or explain why the numbers differ.

  • The tag is the only planNames and triggers live inside tools, with no approved rules for events, IDs, value or corrections.
  • Platforms quietly disagreeGA4, ad accounts, the CRM and store totals use different levels of detail, times, models and exclusions.
  • Problems are found after money is spentNo automated test journeys, alert levels, release notes or problem owner catch tracking drift early.
Changes

Sample results are tested from the original action through consent, collection, duplicate removal, delivery to each platform and the business record that follows.

  • Meaning comes before setupThe result, what it's measured against, value, record IDs, consent, platforms and how it's used are all approved.
  • Every handover is testedBrowser, server, analytics, ad platform, CRM and correction records all have proof they work.
  • Credit keeps its contextLevel of detail, model, identity, time window, whether data is estimated and limits on proving cause all stay visible.
After

Reports that match up show the actions seen, differences between platforms, platform estimates, problems and planned improvements with owners, without presenting credit for results as proof of cause.

  • Rules catch driftChecks on structure and volume flag missing, duplicated, late, shifted or non-consented events.
  • Changes can be undoneTest setups, versions, approvals, notes and an undo option protect your live tracking.
  • Results can be correctedLead qualification, refunds, cancellations and changed values keep both their original and current status.
How your business works

Conversion tracking changes with the result, the data and what's at stake.

Our technical method stays the same, but customer matching, consent, value, how long sales take, regulations, what each platform supports and the right tests vary by type of business.

Clear ownership

We build the agreed tracking. Your team controls how data is used and the business facts.

These columns separate the tracking and platform work we do, the legal and system work we coordinate, and the business definitions, permissions, access and go-live decisions that stay with you.

We do the work

The tracking design and delivery work written into your proposal.

  • Set out the results, scope, current setup, owners and which system has the final say
  • Define the rules for events, data layer, IDs, value, consent and where data goes
  • Set up the approved website, app, online store, lead, call and platform events
  • Set up the agreed browser, server, enhanced, offline and correction data flows
  • Run sign-off tests on journeys, consent, duplicate removal, matching records and failure cases
  • Deliver versions, documents, monitoring, problem-handling rules and the final decision record
We coordinate

The technical, legal and day-to-day dependencies that decide whether go-live is safe.

  • The owners of your website, app, checkout, booking, call, CRM, billing and data systems
  • Conversion settings in your ad accounts, and switching bidding over, with your channel owners
  • Your consent tool (CMP), privacy, legal, security, purchasing and sensitive-data reviews
  • Our Reporting, Growth Strategy, CRM Automation and CRO services, each with its own scope, where needed
  • Outside suppliers for platforms, cloud hosting, call tracking, data warehouses and connections
  • Test setups, release times, repeat tests after each change, problems and the fixes that follow
You review and sign off

Your organization keeps the final say on business, data use and go-live.

  • Approve business results, what counts, what they're measured against, values and bidding uses
  • Provide accounts you own, permissions, systems, test records and the right people to make decisions
  • Approve consent, legal basis, notices, suppliers, fields, how long data is kept and sensitive-data rules
  • Approve the use of customer IDs, customer data, enhanced conversions and offline uploads
  • Approve going live, ad changes, how serious a problem is and correction decisions
  • Keep final control over legal decisions, data, platforms, spending and who owns the assets
How it fits together

A conversion is only useful when its ID survives every handover between systems.

The system links the customer's action, the tracking rules, consent status, browser and server collection, delivery to each platform, the result in your CRM, corrections, credit for results, monitoring and the decision you make.

The connected growth engine

Reporting

Regular dashboards and performance reports use the approved events, agreed number definitions, correction status and known reporting differences.

Growth Strategy

Decisions about channels, budgets and experiments use conversion and impact evidence, without making the tracking service responsible for your ad strategy.

CRM Automation

Day-to-day lead and customer workflows use the tracking fields they need, but keep their own rules for routing leads, messages and customer stages.

CRO and A/B Testing

Tests on your pages (conversion rate optimization) rely on stable events for who saw which version, the result and safety limits, all produced by the tracking system.

Paid Media

Channel teams own campaign and bidding settings, while Conversion Tracking supplies the approved main and secondary signals.

Data and engineering

Website, app, data warehouse, security and platform owners provide system access, releases, logs, identity and day-to-day reliability.

One connected scope. Conversion Tracking and Attribution is coordinated with the strategy, creative, experience, data and reporting it depends on, so responsibilities and handoffs stay visible in one written plan.

What to expect

Business results first, then tested tracking and reports that match up.

We usually agree the results to track and map your data sources in days 1 to 5. Tested tracking and reporting follow over a first cycle of four to six weeks, as long as developers, customer matching, consent and checks between your systems are ready. Platform reviews, missing access, changes to your website's data layer and outside suppliers can push the date back.

Conversion tracking and attribution, from definitions to tested reports

Days 1–2

Results and scope basics

We confirm the business actions, which records count, values, how each signal is used, who isn't a fit, systems, owners, access and where related services begin and end.

Our full growth plan (all services together), month by month

Month 1

Foundation and review

We review your whole website, where you rank and your competitors, agree how the site should be organized, and set up hosting, analytics (visitor tracking) and your GoHighLevel lead system. The first agreed pages start going live.

KPI pages live
Month 2

Build and launch

The site is built or rebuilt. Main, service and industry pages go live with on-page SEO, website labels and technical fixes. Your Google Business Profile is improved and lead follow-up automations are switched on.

KPI pages in Google
Month 3

Early rankings, paid ads start

More pages built from templates (programmatic pages) start going live, paid ads and email follow-ups are switched on for early leads, and Google adds your pages to its results as the first rankings usually appear.

KPI search terms ranking
Month 4

Momentum builds

Rankings often start climbing, visits from free search begin to rise, ad spending is tuned to the return it brings (ROAS, return on ad spend), and groups of related articles and links from other sites build your reputation with Google.

KPI visits from search
Month 5

Results start to show

Main search terms can move closer to page one, the first leads from free search often arrive, AI tools may begin to mention you, and testing improvements to your pages (CRO, conversion rate optimization) helps more visitors get in touch.

KPI leads from search
Month 6

Growth builds on itself

Pages that are working are protected and improved, template pages bring in visitors searching for very specific terms, and SEO, ads, email and automation work together to bring steadier leads and sales. Timing varies by market and competition, and no ranking is guaranteed.

How we compare

Good tracking proves the record is right, not just that data was sent.

The difference shows in clear business definitions, one main ID for each action, consent and data-use controls, removing double counts on each platform, live checks between systems, corrections, monitoring and honesty about what the numbers can't prove.

The risk of using a different agency for everything
  • Installs tags before agreeing what a real business conversion is
  • Treats an event showing in a test tool (DebugView) as proof the whole journey works
  • Counts clicks, thank-you page views or taps on a phone number as qualified results
  • Sells server-side tracking as complete, cookie-free or unaffected by browsers
  • Treats Google Consent Mode as a cookie banner, a legal basis or a compliance certificate
  • Sends browser and server copies without one lasting ID to remove duplicates
  • Stops CRM feedback once a lead is created and ignores later changes in value
  • Adds up platform totals even though they use different windows, identities and models
  • Only finds broken tracking after campaign results change or someone in the business complains
  • Leaves containers, accounts, keys and know-how with the agency that set it up
vs
Softscotch
  • Gets sign-off on the result, what it's measured against, value, use and the system with the final say, first
  • Matches the original action, data sent, platform record and business record
  • Separates interaction, success, qualification, opportunity and sale
  • States the limits of server hosting, consent, security, cost, failures and visibility into problems
  • Sets up the consent and data-use decisions you approve, and tests every possible choice
  • Version-tracks event IDs, retries, order of arrival and duplicate-removal rules for each platform
  • Sends back qualified, closed, canceled, refunded and changed-value results where platforms support it
  • Keeps level of detail, identity, time window, time zone, credit rules and estimates visible
  • Runs scheduled test journeys, structure checks, alerts for unusual numbers and problem recovery
  • Uses accounts you own, minimum access, version history, documents and clean handover when work ends

Ethical, transparent, always on

One accountable team, strictly white-hat (only methods search engines and platforms allow), no shortcuts and no surprises. Support whenever you need it.

One plan, full-stack access

One Softscotch plan gives you access to the full service stack, coordinated around your priorities.

You do not need a separate agency or retainer for every channel. Your plan can draw from search, paid media, web, ecommerce, outreach, automation, lead generation, messaging, content, creative and operations. The agreed scope sets what is active, in what order and at what capacity.

Pricing approach

One price for everything, not a stack of separate retainers.

You get one price for your whole marketing, not a separate retainer for every service. SEO, paid ads, your website, automations, cold email and newsletters, we run all of it as a single scope, so you get the most result for what you pay. Agencies sell each of these on its own, so the invoice climbs whether or not that line drives a single lead.

Bought separately, service by service

A different agency or retainer for each service. The bill stacks up fast, and keeps climbing whether or not each one moves a single lead.

All of it, one scope

We run your whole marketing as one engagement, so you get the most result for what you pay, not a pile of disconnected invoices.

Questions, answered

Conversion tracking services FAQs: what to know before rebuilding your tracking.

These answers cover why GA4 and ad platforms differ, GTM, server-side tracking, consent, Google enhanced conversions, Meta Conversions API (CAPI), online stores, forms, calls, offline sales, apps, credit for results, measuring true impact, timing, pricing, ownership and guarantees.

Filter
What is included in conversion tracking services?

It can include a review of your results and current tools, a tracking plan, rules for events and the data layer, GA4 and GTM, website or app events, online store, forms, bookings, calls, ad platform signals from the browser and server, Google enhanced conversions, CRM or offline results, removing duplicates, setting up consent choices, testing, monitoring, documenting how credit for results works and a handover with training for your team. Your proposal names every analytics account, platform, event and connection.

What access and client input do you need?

We usually need access to your websites or apps, your code or developers, GTM and GA4, ad accounts, your consent tool (CMP), online store or booking systems, call tracking, CRM, billing or sales data and current reports. Your team must approve conversion definitions, values, consent and data use, platform terms, going live and the facts held in your business systems.

Can you audit our setup without rebuilding everything?

Yes. An audit can list your live tools, compare events with real business results, test sample journeys, check consent and where data goes, match records across systems and produce a fix plan in priority order. The fixes can be a separate phase, and existing work that is sound is kept rather than replaced just for appearances.

Why do GA4, Google Ads, Meta and our CRM show different conversion totals?

They can use different event definitions, ways of identifying people, credit rules and reporting windows, time zones, processing delays, consent choices, duplicate removal, filters, estimated data and correction rules. We first decide which differences are expected, then look into any differences we can't explain by checking the original and platform records.

Do you have to use Google Tag Manager?

No. GTM is useful when its access controls, version history and release process suit your setup, but events can also be set up in your website or app code, built-in platform connections, app kits (SDKs) or approved server data flows. The setup is chosen for reliability, privacy, ownership and upkeep, not forced into one tool.

Do you support server-side tracking?

Yes, when there's a clear reason for it and someone to run it. Server-side tracking sends data through a server you control instead of only through the visitor's browser. We can scope a collection point on your own domain or a server container, reshaping and routing events, removing browser and server duplicates, passing consent choices along, protected keys, logs, hosting, capacity, cost, failure handling and monitoring. It can't capture every action that can't be seen, and it can't get around a visitor's choices, platform rules or the law.

Does Consent Mode make our tracking compliant?

No. Google Consent Mode passes on the choices a visitor makes in your existing consent tool to supported Google tags, and can change how those tags behave. It doesn't provide a cookie banner, decide your legal basis, make other tags respect consent or certify that you're compliant. Your legal and privacy owners approve the rules; we set up and test the agreed choices.

Can you implement Google enhanced conversions and enhanced conversions for leads?

Yes, where your account, conversion action, website or CRM, your own customer data, consent and Google's terms allow it. Enhanced conversions securely send scrambled (hashed) customer details, like email addresses, to help Google match conversions to ad clicks. We map and protect the approved details, set up Google's current version of the feature, test diagnostic checks and upload errors, and keep match rates and credited results separate from the real lead or sale record in your own systems.

Can you set up Meta Conversions API, TikTok Events API and other ad-platform signals?

Yes, when they're named in your scope. These connections send events from your server directly to the ad platform. For each platform, we map supported events and details, approved matching fields, event time and source, pairing browser and server copies, shared event IDs, duplicate removal, consent, diagnostic checks, rejected events and upkeep. We don't suggest any platform partnership or guarantee matching, credit or ad performance.

How do you track forms, bookings, chats and phone calls accurately?

We tell apart interacting, passing checks, a successful submission or booking, a real conversation, qualification and a sale. Depending on the system, proof can come from the app confirming success, a trusted message from another system, call records or CRM stages. A button click or thank-you page load on its own isn't treated as proof when better evidence is available.

What does ecommerce conversion tracking include?

The agreed set of events can cover product views, product lists, cart, checkout, payment and purchase, with item and order IDs, quantity, currency, value, tax, shipping, coupons and store or brand. We also plan for duplicate purchases, subscriptions, cancellations, returns, refunds and chargebacks, and match the analytics record against your store's own records.

Can you connect CRM stages and offline revenue back to campaigns?

Yes, where IDs, timing, consent, platform support and CRM data quality allow it. We can keep campaign and landing page details, map lead, account and opportunity IDs and upload qualified leads, closed deals and values through approved files, Google's Data Manager, API connections or other integrations. Records that fail to match, age limits on uploads and limits on credit stay visible.

How do refunds, canceled orders and disqualified leads affect tracking?

We keep the original event and the current business status separate. Where a platform supports it, a later record can remove the conversion or change its value, using a lasting order or event ID. Dashboards and data warehouses can also show results after refunds and cancellations without quietly deleting the original action.

Do you implement mobile-app conversion tracking?

Yes, as a separately listed piece of app work. It can include Firebase or another approved app kit (SDK), app and back-end events, deep links, app install IDs and allowed user IDs, Apple's tracking permission (ATT) status, inputs for Apple's AdAttributionKit or SKAdNetwork, mobile measurement partners and testing new releases. Privacy-safe install reports (postbacks) can't rebuild a full person-by-person journey.

Is attribution the same as incrementality?

No. Attribution shares out credit among the interactions we saw, using a chosen way of identifying people, a time window and a model. Modeled conversions are platform estimates of some actions that weren't seen. Incrementality asks what happened because of a campaign, and needs a fair test-and-control group or another sound cause-and-effect design. Marketing mix modeling is another method that uses combined totals, with its own data needs and assumptions.

How do you test and monitor a conversion-tracking setup?

Before go-live, we run normal and unusual journeys and follow each one through the original action, the data layer or app kit, the data sent, the server log, the platform and the business record. After go-live, we can watch for missing, duplicate, late, shifted, non-consented and rejected events, run scheduled automated test journeys and attach versions, alerts, severity levels, undo steps and owners for corrections.

Can you guarantee complete tracking, matching or attribution?

No. Consent choices, browser and phone privacy controls, ad blockers, offline behavior, people using several devices, platform models, processing, access to connected systems and customer actions all limit what can be seen. We can commit to the agreed rules, setup, tests, record matching, monitoring and honest reporting, and we avoid unsupported claims like "cookie-free", "can't be blocked" or "100 percent accurate".

How long and how much does the work cost, and who owns it?

Timing and price depend on the number of websites, apps, domains, events and platforms, data layer changes, server setup, your consent tool, online store, CRM, test and live setups, how deep testing goes and upkeep. Your proposal states the access needed, what you get, what we depend on, the schedule, our fee and outside costs. Accounts, containers, code, documents and other agreed assets you own are handed over with named permissions and owners.
